Please be advised: If you are taking Accutane, Retin-A/ Renova, blood thinning medication, or if you are sun-burned or have tanned the area to be waxed within 72 hours, or have had a facial peel or microdermabrasion within 7 days we cannot perform hair removal services as these cause the skin to be too sensitive for waxing. Do not get waxed if you are getting laser hair removal treatments. If the laser treatments are not working well enough, wait until after you have completed the series before you start getting waxed. Tweezing without waxing is available as an alternative to some facial waxing services. Must be at least 18 years of age to receive bikini or brazilian waxing.
We use Nufree -- the safest, easiest, cleanest and most pain-free option of hair removal. Learn more by visiting our page About Our "Wax".
Body, Brazilian, & Bikini Waxing: Hair growth has to be long enough for the wax to adhere to, so it needs to be at least 1/4" inch long. Waiting at least 3 weeks after shaving should do the trick. If it's your first time we advise at least 21 days of growth. It is not necessary to trim longer hair before getting waxed. On the day of your appointment the area to be waxed should be clean and moisturized. Using a body oil or simply coconut or olive oil will hydrate the hair and aid in preventing break-offs. If you are on your period, wearing a tampon or a mensural cup is perfectly acceptable, though we do not recommend getting waxed your very first time while menstruating as it can increase sensitivity. For a Classic Bikini wax you can go commando, wear your own undies, or you may elect for disposables that we provide complimentary upon request. Brazilian Waxing and most Modified Bikini waxes are performed without undies and a disposable towel is provided for your comfort and is removed during the waxing procedure. For best results, keep a regular waxing schedule every 4-6 weeks and do not shave, trim, or tweeze between appointments.
Facial Waxing: Allow at least 2 weeks of no shaving, tweezing, or waxing. It is ok to have makeup on when getting waxed. Do not exfoliate the area(s) to be waxed within 5-7 days of your appointment. For best results, keep a regular waxing schedule every 2-3 weeks and do not shave, trim, or tweeze between appointments.
Waxing for special occasions (wedding, vacation, etc): We recommend getting waxed at least twice before a special occasion if you have never been waxed before or have never been waxed using Nufree. Reactions are rare but is still a risk. Allow at least 28 days/4 weeks between the two waxing visits. On the visit right before the event, it is best to do it at least 48 hours prior to the event (if you are getting married Friday, get waxed no later than Wednesday).
You can get waxed while pregnant or while on your period. We do however recommend having waxing services (particularly large areas/body services) during the first 2 weeks after menstruation to decrease pain sensitivity. If you are menstruating you must wear a menstrual cup or tampon during your service and tuck the string inside the vagina so it is out of the way. We are accustomed to waxing ladies all the way through their pregnancies as late as 2 weeks before the due date with doctor's approval.
Other ways to decrease pain sensitivity is to minimize salt intake and stimulants like caffeine and being hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Focusing on relaxing is the most effective pain reducer. There are topical numbing creams that some people find helpful (though they do not necessarily work for everyone). Dr Numb (uses Lidocaine) and No Scream Cream (uses Benzocaine) are popular products. Please note that we do not offer/sell any numbing products at the waxing studio so if you wish to use one, you will need to buy it in advance and follow the instructions on the product package.
